WHATS HOT AND WHATS NOT .................. Following on from the Bank Holiday, I will keep it short and sweet this week... Succulent Turkish Figs are now available and are pretty tremendous in appearance and taste. English Victoria Plums are at their best. English Brussel Sprouts have become available but early crops are quite firm and take longer to cook. Still good to go are out stalwart English produce - Courgettes, Carrots, Tomatoes, Cauliflowers (down in price), Icebergs, White/Red Cabbage, Celery, Curly Kale. Apricots have finished for the time being as we await the arrival of crops from further afield (will update on their arrival. Looks like watermelon crops are beginning to dwindle so a consequence will be in increase in price. There is also talk that Lollo Rosso may become tight (in availability - nothing else!) Lemons are still expensive. Asparagus is slowly coming down. Pineapples are also on the up as forecast. In summary, seasonal English produce is holding its own in price, appearance and taste.
